A Solitary Man

Bonjour, readers! So this is my first original poem here. Hope y’all like it!

In the wee hours of the night

When everyone is asleep,

Sits on the beach

A solitary man.

He is on his knees

Staring at the sea,

His head bent low, just like the tide.

The devotee of the sea,

A solitary man.

He wades out into the water

The currents pulling at his feet,

A wave washes over him

But he hardly pays heed.

Eyes flaring with hate,

A solitary man.

He kneels down in the sea

And cries โ€˜Marcy!โ€™

His single word lost to the wind.

A heartbroken lover,

A solitary man.

He wades out further

Tears streaming on his sunken cheeks

A wave frees him from his despair.

Lost in the saltwater,

A solitary man.
